About this site

Checked October 17, 2026

Estimated Tax Planner publishes general information about US federal estimated tax for self-employed people. The publisher is this site. There is no person, firm, or credential behind the name.

What the site does

It explains the IRS quarterly schedule, the $1,000 test, self-employment tax, and the 90% / 100% / 110% safe harbor, and it runs a planner entirely in your browser. It does not prepare or file a return, and it does not represent you before the IRS.

What was checked

  • IRS estimated-tax FAQ and the individuals FAQ updated September 29, 2026.
  • IRS Topic 554, updated September 24, 2026, and the Schedule SE instructions page.
  • IRS Direct Pay page, updated July 13, 2026, and the underpayment penalty page.
  • SSA contribution and benefit base page: $184,500 for 2026 and $192,300 for 2027.

Uncertain items

Uncertain. Form 1040-ES for 2027 was not published. 2027 due dates are expected, not voucher dates.

January 18, 2028 is this site's calculation from the weekend-and-holiday rule. Publication 509 for 2027 was not read.

Publication 505 was not read in full. Farmers, fishers, the January payment exception, and several other special rules are only pointed at, not restated.

The IRS penalty page still showed 2023 and 2024 inside one safe-harbor sentence. The current quarterly underpayment interest rate was not copied, and no penalty amount is calculated.

EFTPS steps, card-processing fees, and the Direct Pay scheduling window were not verified.

State estimated tax is not covered. Income-tax brackets for 2027 are not stated.

The Schedule SE instructions page still described the 2025 wage base. The $400 test is applied to the 92.35% amount, which is line 4c on that form.
